Coole nieuwe interface

Kijk, dat vind ik nou coole shit. Beetje zoals de technologie uit Minority Report, maar dan ingebouwd in een tafel. De komende jaren natuurlijk nog niet te betalen voor de gewone man, maar de voorspelling zoals die aan het eind wordt gedaan over volledig interactieve muren? Ja, dat komt er uiteindelijk wel ja. Philips is er ook al mee bezig. Voor nu een mooie stap voorwaarts, wat mij betreft mag zoiets ook gemaakt worden voor tablet pc’s.

En uiteraard is er ook een mooie parodie op gemaakt die zeker een paar goede punten heeft.

Why officework will die

John Wesley has written an excellent piece on teleworking. He is absolutely right when pointing out that your most productive hours are sparse and that recharching at the office is hard. Mine are in the morning, and when I work from home, I start working @ 08:00 hrs, and get a lot done. In the afternoon I do those little tasks like making phonecalls and replying to emails, and at the end of my workingday I run again through that morning’s work and correct and adjust it. Works fine for me.

The only point I disagree with, is that I find it absolutely necessary meet my colleagues. I work together with a lot of people, and I just cannot take out the people of the process. The work wouldn’t be as productive without real life communication.

De vraag van Jan Lammers was: ‘Huub leg me eens uit, bedoel je met het feit dat Jos weer populair is een race heeft gewonnen en bijna 1 miljoen dollar op de bank heeft, gedonder of ’ hassle’?’ Hier kwam een ontwijkend antwoord op. Toen de vraag van Jan: ‘Huub wat doe je liever, weer een seizoen zoals vorig jaar, of niet rijden?”. Huub antwoordde: ‘niet rijden’.”

Oftewel: Jos Verstappen komt niet uit in de A1GP race op Zandvoort dit weekend. Jammer dat het bij Verstappen altijd weer om geld draait. Aan de andere kant zal de 25 jarige Jeroen Bleekemolen nu een kans krijgen in een van de opkomende raceklasses. En zeg nou zelf, wie zit er eigenlijk nog te wachten op Verstappen? We willen snelle rijders, geen gridbakliefhebbers.

“We wilden geen herhaling van vorig seizoen”, reageerde Verstappen op zijn website. ,,Rijden, de hele wereld over reizen en wachten op je salaris. Ik heb echt maandenlang op mijn centen moeten wachten, terwijl ik er alles voor doe om de A1GP te promoten. Ik was op de Masters in Zandvoort, gaf demonstraties in Assen en Rotterdam. Terwijl er nooit op tijd betaald werd. Gistermiddag zijn nog financiële zaken geregeld die met vorig seizoen te maken hadden.”

Ja, dan heb je echt een kutleven zeg, ik durf te wedden dat er niemand met hem zou willen ruilen, zeker niet voor een schamele fooi van 1 miljoen. Arme Jos…

wp-2.0-button.gifThis site – as well as Sargasso and Hollands Metaal – runs on WordPress, a piece of free open source software that is being backed by a huge community of users and developers. It is originally a fork of b2, the weblog tool we first used for Sargasso. Would you like to know more?

The WordPress community has produced an amazing collections of plugins (additional buts of functionality) and themes (skins, layouts).
There are almost as many WordPress templates as there are lists of WP templates. I don’t think listing 700+ templates alphabetically is the right way to do that. On this page I will collect only those templates that really are different in design, are easy to customize and good looking. I will seperate them in 2 subsets of 2 and 3 column templates.

The number of plugins is also huge, but on the wordpress codex, an attempt is made to categorize them, which makes searching a bit easier, but no effort is taken to separate the good from the bad.

My selection will not be based upon rational criteria though, here I will just post those themes and plugins that I find really useful and easy to install. For example, I do not want to alter my database tables any more than is absolutely necessary.
